CYO 2008 Diocesan Youth Conference
Parish Recognition Award was presented this weekend to St Patrick
CYO for their work in the following areas: Advocacy, Catechesis, Community Life, Evangelization, Justice & Service, Leadership
Development, Pastoral Care and Prayer and Worship.
St Patrick received 3rd Place in the amount of money raised per
student involved in the fundraiser for the Venezuelan Clinic Project. This year we had a BINGO and served Sloppy Joes etc.
for the parish. We then served a concession at the Region III Volleyball tournament with the leftover supplies. Also in August
there were approx 20 students who participated in the Region III Mud Volleyball event. Each participant donated $5.00 to the
Venezuelan project to play.
Natalie Hubbell, daughter of Mike and Susan Hubbell, was nominated and received the Regional
Outstanding Catholic Youth Award. Each parish nominates two people - one boy and one girl. Nominees may be 9th, 10th, 11th,
or 12th graders. The Region selects one boy and one girl as recipients of this award. Jacob Depenbusch from Mt Vernon received
the male award. Pam and Felix Rainosek's nephew.
Gabe Hayes, son of Dave and Sandie Hayes, was nominated and received
The Light of Christ Award. This award recognizes a youth's four-year involvement in church work at the parish, regional, and
diocesan level. Each parish may nominate two seniors, one male and one female.
The opening prayer service Sunday was
presented by the Region III Board.
They presented a skit representing the temptations of sin and the Power of God in a teenager’s life. It was a very
powerful and moving performance.
Our representatives on the Region III board are; Riley Milford, Brett Sterneker, Gabe Hayes, and Anna Govert.
